Cardiac Sciences

Cardiac Sciences can be termed as the science of all Cardiovascular diseases. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a class of diseases that involve the heart or blood vesselsCardiovascular disease includes coronary artery diseases (CAD) such as angina and myocardial infarction (commonly known as a heart attack). Other CVDs are heart failure, hypertensive heart disease, rheumatic heart disease, cardiomyopathy, heart arrhythmia, congenital heart disease, valvular heart disease, carditis, aortic aneurysms, peripheral artery disease and venous thrombosis.

Angina : Angina pectoris, commonly known as angina, is the sensation of chest pain, pressure, or squeezing, often due to not enough blood flow to the heart muscle as a result of obstruction or spasm of the coronary arteries. The most common symptom is chest pain or discomfort which may travel into the shoulder, arm, back, neck or jaw.

Myocardial Infarction : Myocardial infarction (MI) or acute myocardial infarction (AMI), commonly known as a heart attack, occurs when blood flow stops to a part of the heart causing damage to the heart muscle. The stabbing pain is in the center or left side of the chest and lasts for more than a few minutes. The discomfort may occasionally feel like heartburn. AMI requires URGENT Hospitalization and the occluded blood vessel requires to be re-opened at the earliest by Angioplasty.

Heart Failure : Heart failure (HF), often referred to as congestive heart failure (CHF), occurs when the heart is unable to pump sufficiently to maintain blood flow to meet the body's needs. Signs and symptoms commonly include shortness of breath, excessive tiredness, and leg swelling.

Cardiovascular (Heart) Surgery is surgery on the heart or great vessels performed by cardiac surgeons. Frequently, it is done to treat complications of ischemic heart disease (for example, coronary artery bypass grafting), correct congenital heart disease, or treat valvular heart disease from various causes including endocarditis, rheumatic heart disease and atherosclerosis. It also includes heart transplantation.

Charnock Team of Cardiac Sciences has been formed up of the best Cardiac Clinicians, Surgeons and Cardiac Anaesthetists in town. The World Class infrastructure consists of high end Philips Cath-Lab with Flat Panel Detector, Specialized Cardiac Table and Lights. The CTVS unit is proud to have the best of Maquet IABP, Heart Lung machine and Haemotherm. All Critical Care beds are covered by Hepa filtered AC and there are CCU and CTVS ITU respectively. The Team of highly qualified and experienced Consultants along with the back up specialists is ready to face the everyday challenge of the increasing complications of this genre of treatment. This CTVS Team is experienced in performing and managing all sorts of Cardiothoracic procedures such as Beating Heart Coronary Artery Bypass, Grafting, Complex Valve Repairs, Aortic Surgery, Congenital Repairs and Minimally Invasive Procedures.
