Pneumonia is an infection in one or both lungs. It may involve just one small section of the lung or it may encompass the entire lung. This often impairs the body’s ability to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide. The severity of the pneumonia depends on the strength of the bacteria and how quickly the patient is diagnosed and treated… Age, health, and immune status are also factors for severity.

PULMONARY EMBOLISM
Pulmonary embolism (PE) usually results from a blood clot in the leg that travels to the lung. Symptoms of a PE may include shortness of breath, chest pain particularly upon breathing in, and coughing up blood. Symptoms of a blood clot in the leg may also be present such as a red, warm, swollen, and painful leg. Severe cases can lead to passing out, abnormally low blood pressure and sudden death.

INTERSTITIAL LUNG DISEASES
These are a group of diseases in which various areas of the lungs dries up because of various known and unknown factors. Patients usually complain of shortness of breath and mild cough which progresses over time and the patient lands up being oxygen dependent and bedridden if not detected early and treated adequately. Environmental factors include exposure to air pollution and allergens. Other potential triggers include medications such as aspirin and beta blockers.

LUNG CANCER
Lung cancer, also known as lung carcinoma, is a malignant lung tumor characterized by uncontrolled cell growth in tissues of the lung.
